As part of ongoing efforts to build institutional support for the Youth Quota in Parliament Bill, the advocacy team, led by the Convener, Hon. Blessing Oyefeso, paid a courtesy and advocacy visit to the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande Wisdom, on 18 November 2025.
During the meeting, the team presented the objectives and key provisions of the Youth Quota in Parliament Bill, highlighting the urgent need to increase youth representation in Nigeria’s legislative institutions through constitutional reform. The Convener formally presented a copy of the Bill and the official Youth Quota in Parliament campaign flag to the Honourable Minister as a symbol of partnership and shared commitment to advancing youth-inclusive governance.
The Honourable Minister commended the advocacy team for its vision, dedication, and commitment to promoting meaningful youth participation in democratic governance and decision-making. He reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development’s commitment to supporting initiatives that expand opportunities for young Nigerians and pledged the Ministry’s collaboration towards the successful passage of the Youth Quota in Parliament Bill.
The Minister further noted that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has demonstrated a strong commitment to youth inclusion by appointing more young people to strategic positions in government than previous administrations. He emphasised that the proposed Youth Quota in Parliament Bill aligns with the administration’s broader agenda of empowering young people, promoting inclusive governance, and strengthening democratic participation.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to sustained collaboration between the advocacy team and the Federal Ministry of Youth Development to advance legislative reforms that will guarantee greater youth representation in Parliament and deepen democratic inclusion across Nigeria.
