Youth Quota in Parliament

On 13 September 2025, Nigeria’s foremost jurist, constitutional lawyer, human rights activist, and pro-democracy advocate, Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN, hosted the Youth Quota in Parliament advocacy team at his chambers in Abuja.
During the meeting, Prof. Ozekhome expressed his unwavering support for the campaign for fair and equitable representation of young people in Nigeria’s legislative institutions. He described the Youth Quota initiative as a timely democratic reform that will strengthen inclusive governance and ensure that the voices of young Nigerians are adequately represented in national decision-making.
He further assured the advocacy team of his full legal support, offering pro bono legal advisory services throughout the legislative process. In addition, he pledged to leverage his longstanding relationship with members of the leadership of the National Assembly to mobilize support for the swift consideration and passage of the Youth Quota Bill when it is introduced before the National Assembly.
The visit marks another significant milestone in the growing national coalition of respected statesmen, legal experts, and democratic advocates backing the campaign for institutionalized youth representation in Nigeria’s Parliament.
