Youth Quota in Parliament

As part of its strategic legislative engagement, the Youth Quota in Parliament advocacy team paid a courtesy and advocacy visit to the Chairman of the House Committee on Youth in Parliament, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, to formally present the Youth Quota in Parliament Bill and provide an update on the progress of stakeholder engagements across the country.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Chairman on the objectives of the proposed constitutional amendment, the outcomes of consultations with key stakeholders, and the growing national support for increased youth representation in Nigeria’s legislative institutions. The team also presented a copy of the Bill alongside the official Youth Quota in Parliament campaign flag as a symbol of the movement’s commitment to advancing inclusive governance.
In his remarks, Hon. Alao-Akala commended the advocacy team for its vision, courage, and dedication to promoting meaningful youth participation in governance. He described the initiative as timely and necessary, noting that it aligns with the aspirations of many young Nigerians who seek greater opportunities to contribute to national development through public service.
The Chairman assured the delegation of his full support for the initiative and pledged to facilitate the legislative process once the Bill is formally introduced before the 10th National Assembly.
